The Cause of Baldness in Men - Baldness is something that is avoided by most men in this world. Various products that claimed to overcome the problem of baldness can be easily obtained in the market today, although these products are not 100 percent effective.
Baldness in men is caused by many factors. Genetics, lifestyle, stress levels, and hair care products can be one of several contributing factors.
Recently, researchers discovered a new cause of hair loss problems that is often experienced by men. American researchers found a protein that is considered as a trigger of hair loss.
According to the study (published in Science Translational Medicine), men with high levels of protein PDG2 (prostagladin D2) on the scalp are more likely to experience the baldness problems. PDG2 Protein is a protein that can inhibit hair growth.
The researchers analyzed the hair follicles of 22 men who experience baldness problems. The researchers also took tissue samples on the scalp of men with androgenetic alopecia (the most common cause of baldness in men) and then measure the level of the gene.
The researchers found a high PDG2 protein content on the part of the bald head. PGD2 protein content is three times more than is found in the part of the scalp that are still widely covered by hair.
"Basically, our study shows an increase in the number of prostaglin protein on the scalp of a bald man, and this inhibits hair growth. So, we have to identify the target first before treating the problem of baldness in men," said lead researcher Dr. George Cotsarelis.
