An Irregular Heartbeat? Stroke Alert!

Have you ever felt your heart beat irregularly? If so, then you should be alert, because an irregular heartbeat or atrial fibrillation is one of the factors that can lead to stroke.

This risk is more likely in older women. The risk will be higher if they are taking blood-thinning drug that actually works to prevent stroke.

To find out whether there are differences in stroke risk between men and women based on atrial fibrillation, researchers collected data from more than 39.000 men and 44.000 women aged 65 years and over. 

In men and women who take blood-thinning drug, found that women experienced a greater risk (5.8 percent) than men (4.3 percent).

In addition, researchers found that people with atrial fibrillation have a fivefold increased risk of stroke compared with those who are healthy.

"This study reminds the doctors who treat female patients with atrial fibrillation, especially elderly women, that they have a higher risk to suffer a stroke than men," said researcher Dr. Louise Pilote, at McGill University and McGill University Health Center in Montreal.

This must be done, the women should know the risks and effects of usage of beauty products. Here are some beauty products that are very risky if used continuously.

Beauty soap
Incessant advertising of beauty products have an impact on the number of women who use beauty soap. Many women are leave organic soaps, they prefer to wear a beauty soap to get brighter and smoother skin. Unfortunately, most of the beauty soap has a high ph that can remove skin acid mantle. This actually makes the skin more susceptible to infection and a major cause of skin cancer.

Wearing make-up every day
The use of cosmetics every day can affect your body's organs such as liver, lung, and kidney. The cause is chemicals (phthalates) that is often used by manufacturers of cosmetic products as a solvent and makes cosmetics more durable. The material is also harmful for the skin because it can affect your vital organs.

Blush on     
Blush become the mainstay of the women to make their cheeks flushed, so they look more fresh and beautiful. In fact, the chemicals contained in the blush on can affect the levels of the estrogen hormone in the female body. This can lead to abnormal growth in breast cells in a short time, that can lead to breast cancer risk. 

Lipstick 
Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found the lead content in some top brands of lipstick products. These chemical compounds can lead to blood and brain disorders.

Foundation
Foundation is an early stage to be used in the make-up. In fact, the foundation is dangerous when in direct contact with skin. Even, the content of asbestos in the foundation can cause tumors and breast cancer for women.   

Mascara 
Mascara is a mainstay for women because it can make lashes long and tapering. Unfortunately, mascara becomes a breeding ground for a million liquid and stale bacteria. In addition, the mascara also contains Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) that could potentially lead to cancer.

Benefits of Green Tea (Preventing Hepatitis)

Benefits of green tea for health and beauty of the body was no doubt. This time I want to share information about the benefits of green tea as an antidote to hepatitis C.

Flavonoids contained in green tea can prevent hepatitis C virus (HCV) into liver. Researchers from Germany revealed epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) contained in green tea can prevent the entry of HCV after liver transplantation (liver replacement).

Sandra Ciesek and Eike Steinmann from the Hannover Medical School in Germany investigated the effects of EGCG in preventing HCV molecules attached to the liver cells. "Green tea catechins such as EGCG and its derivatives, namely epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechingallate (ECG) and epicatechin (EC) showed antiviral properties," said Ciesek. Their research explores the potential effects of flavonoids in preventing HCV reinfection after liver transplantation.

The researchers found that EGCG can inhibit HCV cell entry by acting on host cells as a protector. Pretreatment of cells with EGCG did not reduce infection, but can inhibit the spread of HCV.

Ciesek said, "EGCG in green tea inhibit HCV cell entry".   

HCV infection can lead to chronic hepatitis or primary liver cancer. According to WHO data, the disease affects 170 million people around the world. Meanwhile this. standard treatment that being applied is the use of interferon with ribavirin and protease inhibitors. But unfortunately, this way can only remove the infection in a minority of patients. Patients generally have not been able to respond to this therapy.

Effects of Smoking (Disrupt Hearing) - Adverse effects of cigarette smoke to health is irrefutable, both in those who smoke and those exposed to secondhand smoke. Recent research on the effects of smoking shows teens that exposed to secondhand smoke have nearly twice the risk of hearing loss.

Researchers from New York University School of Medicine analyzed more than 1,500 young people aged 12-19 years who participated in a national nutrition research in 2005-2006.

Participants underwent blood tests to measure levels of chemicals called continine, a fractional form of nicotine. The teenagers also examined the function of hearing.

The results showed that teenagers who smoke or are exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely to have hearing loss associated with cochlear problems. The cochlea is the hearing organ that serves to send messages to the hearing nerves and brain.

"This is the type of hearing loss that usually occurs due to aging or experienced by children who born with congenital deafness," said Dr. Michael Weitzman who publishes his research in the journal Archives of Otolarygonology.   

Other researchers, Dr. Anil Lalwani, judge, the facts about cigarette smoke that can cause hearing loss among teenagers has implications for public health.

While Dr Ralph Holme of UK Charity Action on Hearing Loss, expressed the need for more research on the effects of smoking and its relation to hearing loss to prove a causal relationship between smoking and hearing loss.  

"But, as a precaution and protection for your child's hearing, it is recommended to avoid smoking around them," he said.

Effects of Smoking (Make Stupid) - Smoking not only causes heart disease, lung cancer, and impotence. Recent research has shown other effects of smoking, which can make you stupid.

The study, led by Severine Sabia from the University of London, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health studied health data from 5.099 men and 2.137 women.

To assess the association of smoking with cognitive decline, researchers reviewed the report by using six assessment of participants' smoking status for 25 years and three assessments of cognitive tests that collected for 10 years.

Findings that published in Archives of General Psychiatry found that male smokers had a faster mental decline than non-smokers. While smokers who had quit for at least 10 years before the first assessment of the cognitive tests, still showed significant cognitive decline.

"Male smokers aged 50 years showed a similar cognitive decline to male non-smokers aged 60 years," said Sabia.

Nevertheless, the researchers found no relationship between smoking and cognitive decline in women. Sabia added that it could happen because women in this age group are smoking less than men.

"Our results suggest a link between smoking and cognitive decline, especially in older men," said the researchers.

Jogging on a regular basis can help you live longer. Researchers from the Copenhagen City Heart Study found that regular jogging increase life expectancy for women and men.

Researchers suggest doing jogging for one to two and a half hours per week, between two to three times a jogging session.

These interesting findings come from the Copenhagen City Heart Study data that began in 1976, by comparing 20.000 non-runners men and women aged 20-93 years with 1.116 men and 762 women who regularly perform jogging. 

The researchers then asked the intensity and how much time they spend on jogging each week. 

The results show that the presence of 10.158 deaths from non-runner group and 122 deaths in the group of runners. This suggests that the risk of death in the runner group was reduced by 44 percent. 

The study also showed that women who regularly jog may live 5,6 years longer than women who don't do jogging. Meanwhile, men who regularly jog may live 6,2 years longer than men who don't do jogging. 

"We can say that jogging can extend your life, even you don't have to force yourself to get the benefits," said researcher Peter Schnohr, a cardiologist from the Copenhagen City Heart Study.

Exercise is good and healthy thing. Exercise is a natural way to make your skin and your body to be healthy and beautiful. However, one question often arises. Eating or not eating before exercise? This question is often asked by many people. And many people think that exercise on an empty stomach will speed up the fat burning.

According to a recent report published this year in a fitness journal in America, it is known that the body burns fat the same amount regardless of whether you eat before or after exercise. If you don't eat before exercise, the body loses muscle strength because in a state of starvation.

The study also found that without food before exercise, total exercise intensity and calorie burn will be reduced. Reduced muscle strength will also make the body lose energy to burn more fat.

Some studies also found that people who exercise with a hungry stomach, about 10 percent of the calories burned come from protein, including muscle.

Previous research has also shown that eating a snack before the big meal is also advantageous. Those who ate 45 grams of carbohydrates before the exercise, actually eat less for the rest of the day.

Not eating before the exercise makes the body lose a lot of energy that can trigger increased appetite. So, eat about 30 minutes before the exercise. The experts suggest to eating a light meal of wheat or a milkshake before exercise.

The results showed that the second period protein is crucial for fuel change from fat to glucose, and can make the heart metabolism more efficient. 

The research team found that sunlight activate a second period proteins in animal and cut the damage from a heart attack.

Green Tea Prevent Obesity - A healthy and slim body. Everyone will want it, that's for sure. And one problem that many people face today is obesity. Heredity and lifestyle are two things that affect obesity. How to handle it naturally?

If you want to reduce the effects of fatty foods that make you obese, you can try to consume green tea. In a study conducted by researchers at Penn State University found that compounds in the green tea can reduce body weight in mice.

The mice used for this experiment is obese mice. The researchers used two mice with high fat, and both were given the same amount of food. Then one of the mice given the intake of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCC), a compound found in green tea. Apparently, this effectively makes the body weight of the mice dropped to 45%, as compared to other mice.

And not only lose weight, the study also showed an increase in fecal lipid up to 30%. "It seems there are two benefits, first, EGCG helps the body to absorb fat, and second, improve the ability to utilize fat," says researcher Joshua Lambert.

Lambert also said that drinking one cup of green tea per day will get the intake of EGCG, but recent research indicates that green tea consumption had no effect on appetite, and can only slow down weight gain.
