6. People with asthma should not exercise. 
Exercise is important for health, including for people with asthma. Just do not select the type of sport that is too exhausting. It's important to understand by parents who have children with asthma. Do not forbids children participate in sports. The ban would cause children to feel different from other children and create a sense of inferiority. Give them a chance to play like other children, only advised not to be too tired. Can also be given an inhaler before playing to widen the respiratory tract to prevent an asthma attack after exercise. So let your child participate in sports at school or playing at home.

7. Asthma is a mild disease.

8. People with asthma should not smoke. 
True, an asthmatic respiratory tract are very sensitive (hyper reactive). Because it is easily aroused by a variety of smoke, including cigarette smoke. People with asthma should not smoke, should not even be around people that are smoking. It should be noted by the employees that work in air-conditioned room. If you smoke indoors, it will damage the health of other employees, especially for employees with asthma.

9. There is no cure for asthma. 
Asthma caused by sensitive (hyperactive) respiratory tract, thus easily aroused by various stimulus. When the stimulus is gone and the constriction of the airways can be corrected with drugs that widen the the respiratory tract, then the patient will feel better. Asthma symptoms will disappear. But when the patient exposed again by trigger factors such as dust, then the asthma attack may occur again. This is because, eliminating the sensitivity of the respiratory tract is not easy. In children, the respiratory tract sensitivity can be better. Thus, someone that has asthma as a child, most of the asthma will disappear before the adults. Sensitivity of the respiratory tract can also be reduced by the use of topical steroid medication (drugs used to prevent asthma attacks). But these drugs should be used constantly. So it is up to now there is no drug that can be used to treat asthma in the short term.

10. Bedrooms people with asthma should be clean. 
True. House dust is one of the factors that cause asthma attacks. Therefore, the patient environment including bed as much as possible to be clean of house dust. Do not put the various items that can keep dust in the bedroom, such as carpets, books, magazines, toys, feathers, etc.. Clean up your house from house dust on a regular basis to reduce asthma attacks.

Asthma is common in the community. In the effort to cure this disease, appeared several assumptions that are inconsistent with the facts of scientific research in the community. By comparing the assumptions and facts about asthma, it's hoped you will get more precise information about the disease.

1. Asthma is a hereditary disease. 
This assumption is not appropriate. A mother with asthma, the children not necessarily has asthma too. Asthma is classified as atopic diseases - that is the tendency to have allergies (hives, cold of allergies, asthma). When in the family members, anyone have atopic disease, then other family members have a greater tendency to have allergies (including asthma), compared with families with no history of atopic disease. So if a mother has asthma then children have a risk of asthma, urticaria or allergic runny nose bigger than children born to mothers without asthma. But once again a mother who has asthma, children will not necessarily have asthma too.

2. Asthma attacks occur easily in moist air. 
Moist air (high water vapor content) actually reduces the risk of asthma attacks. That is why people with asthma feel better when at the beach or the pool. Air at the beach or in the pool contains more water vapor. Airways of asthma sufferers will be more easily aroused in the low humidity, dry air.

3. Asthma attacks can be caused by emotions. 
This assumption is true, emotional factors play a role in asthma attacks. Today researchers generally assume, patient who are emotional when had an asthma attack so asthma attacks will be worse. People with asthma need to learn to be more calm about the asthma attack. This attitude can be fostered if the patient prepare the drug that required in an easily accessible place. When an asthma attack happens at midnight, so patient should not panic because already has a stock of drugs. 

4. Treating yourself can be dangerous. 
Asthma is a chronic disease. Patients can not constantly watched by a doctor or nurse. Patients must understand the factors that can trigger asthma attacks such as flu, excessive physical activity, allergies and certain medications. By understanding that factors so people with asthma can avoid these factors. People with asthma also need to know asthma medications, drugs used for prevention and medication to relieve symptoms. Dose should also be known precisely.

If there is an asthma attack, a patient should know what drugs should be used and should also be able to evaluate whether the asthma was reduced after treatment. If it doesn't get better, then the patient should go to the emergency room at nearest hospital for further treatment. So a person with asthma should understand the disease and know how to use the medicine. This certainly will be understood after an explanation from the treating physician.

5. People with asthma should not get pregnant. 
Effect of pregnancy on asthma is different. Indeed about one-third of people with asthma, the asthma condition worsens during pregnancy. But otherwise, another one-third of people with asthma too, the asthma condition is getting better. And the rest didn't show the effect of pregnancy with asthma. Asthma is not an obstacle for pregnant women. Moreover, if the pregnancy is expected.

Flu is a disease that is often experienced, especially in the transition seasons. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. Many things can be done to prevent the flu.

Did you know that the eye could also catch the flu virus? As quoted from ivillage.co.uk, there are channels in the eye that is connected to nasal cavity. The cavity can be a way for the entry of germs that cause flu. Therefore, avoid touching the eyes and the nose is one way of preventing the flu.

Part of a virus attack humans, including the flu, is caused by direct contact with other people or things that contain lots of germs. Frequent washing of hands after touching doorknobs, computer or other objects is a good step defenses.

Remember, after hand washing, dry with dryer or private towel. Don't dry hands with a towel that used together.

If you are difficult to avoid contact with someone with the flu, because you're on a trip, you can use a mask and gloves. Using gloves can also reduce contact with germs in the chair. If accidental contact with flu patient, you should wash your hands more often than usual. More practically, there is now a hand sanitizer that can be directly applied to the hand without a rinse.

In order for a strong immune system against viruses, you should frequently exercise. It would be better if the exercise be done in the open in order to get vitamin D from sunlight. Vitamin D proven to build up the immune system that are resistant to the flu.

For those of you who missed exercise, vitamin D can be obtained from oily fish, dairy foods, cereal and margarine. Avoid stress because it can lower the immune system.

Research conducted by Prof. Ron Eccles, director of the study flu center, Cardiff University, concluded the flu virus is more easy to breed in a cold nose. To avoid the flu, you should use a scarf or mask to keep the nose temperatures stay warm.

Influenza or commonly known as flu, is a disease that can be solved easily. Even so, when people get flu, people usually feel very miserable. Ranging from cough, cold, fever, nausea and even vomiting.

Actually, there are easy ways that you can follow so you will not got the flu easily. Do four of the following :

1. More outside
Being outside and breathe fresh air is the easiest way to boost the immune system. That also very good for our psychological health which can reduce stress levels. In fact, high levels of stress can lower your immune system.

2. Relaxation
Always make time for relaxation. Enjoy a cup of tea, watering plants or doing other things that make your mind becomes more calm and avoid stress.

"Stress increases the risk of get the flu, because it prevents the body to produce cytokine molecules," said Ather Ali, Assistant head of Complementary / Alternative Medicine Research from the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center.

Function of these molecules trigger the disease reacts to the immune system. Furthermore, during stress, you usually have trouble sleeping, irregular eating patterns and ignorance in health.

3. Always wash hands
Your hand is a nest of viruses and bacteria. So make sure after getting to the bathroom or leave the house, wash your hands with soap. Don't forget to dry it right away, remember, the bacteria are easily spread in wet temperature rather than dry temperatures.

4. Enough sleep
Continuous sleep deprivation can inhibit the ability of the immune system. In fact, a study conducted by a team from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009 found that, someone who slept less than seven hours a day, have a risk of flu three times higher than those who have slept enough.

A recent study proves that eating quickly can cause you to develop diabetes in old age. That's because the person who used to just give a little chew before swallowing their food, will increase the amount of sugar in the blood stream immediately. As a result, the body will be more prone to impaired glucose tolerance, also known as prediabetes.

Dr Pradeep Ratnaparkhi, researchers who study this topic said, "The level of blood glucose in people with impaired glucose tolerance is higher than usual, so they are at high risk of diabetes". Prediabetes conditions that are not controlled will quickly cause type 2 diabetes. "In the last 10 years these people are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, with a percentage of 50 percent," he explained.

Pradeep said, eating too fast can also cause an increase in the number of calories consumed. This condition will eventually lead to weight gain which in turn is associated with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Vice versa, by eating slowly a normal person will feel full more quickly.

Ratnaparkhi suggested, "Healthy food and regular exercise can help people with pre-diabetes to keep their glucose levels under control. So, eat slowly to stay slim and fit," he said.

Benefits of Fasting In Cancer Treatment

Fasting for health benefits had been no doubt about. Recent studies indicate hunger or thirst were also helps fight cancer and improve the effectiveness of treatment.

Researchers from the University of Southern California found fasting slows the growth and spread of tumors, as well as cure some types of cancer when combined with chemotherapy.

In experiments using mice, the researchers found that tumor cells have different responses to stress in people who fasted compared to normal cells. The cells continued to grow and divide, which eventually destroy themselves.

"These cells are, in fact commit suicide. Tumor cells are trying to compensate for lack of intake that lost in the blood after fasting," said Professor Valter Longo, as leader of the researchers from the University of Southern California.

On the findings that published in journal Science Translational Medicine, Longo and his team observed the positive impact of fasting on breast cancer, bladder and ovaries in mice.

In fact, fasting without chemotherapy is proven to slow the growth of breast cancer, melanoma skin cancer, brain glioma and neuroblastoma cancer or cancer that forms in nerve tissue.

However, researchers suggest to combine fasting with chemotherapy for cancer treatment more effective. And is not recommended for all patients, especially those patients who have lost a lot of weight due to cancer or other diseases, like diabetes.
